This wasn't asked for because nobody in their right mind would ask for this but this is a fic rec list of fics I cannot stop rereading

Just started yet another reread of Inimitable Verse by deniigiq and I fully plan on rereading their into the multiverse series which occasionally crosses over also - this is a Spider-Man/team red focused series, think comics canon infused early mcu-spidey since only homecoming had come out for a non substantial amount of time they were working on the series and the daredevil stuff is explicitly tv show AND comics. Also the multiverse series is how I got into Murderdock and therefore how I got into Spider Gwen

Unpretty's Sorrowful And Immaculate Hearts series which is just a loosely interconnected series of DC fics. My personal favorites are Empty Graves, in which Martha Kent keeps killing time travelers trying to kill baby! Clark; any of their clois fics but especially Third Wheel; and Anti-Social, which is a social media fic mostly about Tim and Bruce that made me cry laughing. Catch Bruce trying to get Walmart's employees to unionize. Also shout out to unpretty's only fic with Jason in it, it looks awesome but is tragically incomplete

This particular Reverse Robin AU which put in the work to reverse every single younger generation and is chef's kiss I LOVE this version of Tim he's wild

Both of Shoalsea's fics are in constant rotation for me I talk about Into The Brighter Night all the time in the tags of reblogs and stuff it truly lives in my head rent free. Anyway Tim gets kidnapped by aliens and the batfam have to watch as yj98 saves him and it's angsty and funny and such a good take on what could have been if the new 52 hadn't happened. And Compassion Builds No House is about Tim and Pru from Red Robin. Ugh they're both so good

Speaking of Clois (I did you've just forgotten this by now) brilliant (like a confession) by kathkin (penny-anna on the hellsite) is so fucking good I'm. Okay. Anyway it'll be listed as inspiration if/when I finally post my two person love triangle fic for them

I'm too anxious to catch up on this before it's done but jumble sale chic is hands down the best spideydevil fic series despite and because of the omegaverse

Make A Little Birdhouse In Your Soul is my favorite take on Jason, period, and has a lot of fantastic Damian stuff going on too. It's updating every few weeks still! Sometimes more often! I love you bacondoughnut it's me JustGail the person who will not stop commenting on your fic you're stuck with me forever

I lied above Rumspringa Murderdock is what got me into Murderdock but that series is second place. I found this one while scrolling through the tv show's mattfoggy tag, thinking I was safe

Speaking of Murderdock mattfoggy, The Lawyer All the Wickedness was written early on in spider-gwen's history and so diverges from canon really early in ways that I think are super interesting and creative

Oh also straight on 'til morning by merils (Tumblr url mamawasatesttube) does SUCH a great job unpacking Kon's trauma and building up healthy relationships around him including a budding timkon romance and yeah it makes me sad and happy at the same time

We're getting into poisonivory territory so just trust if you like the pairing and poisonivory is writing it you'll like it. Ok rapidfire

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? Damijon future fic/au. Jon came back from the future when both of them were 19. Demisexual!Damian at its best. Damian's terrified of being abandoned by Jon again and it made my heart hurt

I feel like I've already recommended every JayRoy fic by poisonivory and genuinely I do reread them all, sometimes in order of publication if I'm in a particular mood. Maybe the one I've read most though is I've Got the Feeling You're the Right Thing After All which is about Roy and Jason starting a fwb thing while Roy still harbors old feelings for Dick. Can't see anything going wrong here lmao

Mmm this post is long enough so I'll leave it at just superhero fic for now but I do in fact have the ability to do a whole post just for the Witcher or Leverage so I might do that. Anyway thanks for following me on yet another burst of insanity it will happen again

MattFoggy Fic Rec: No Good Deed by 94BottlesOfSnapple

I'm going to lay it out at the top: this one HURTS. No Good Deed is an epistolary-style oneshot that takes place through a series of voicemails Foggy leaves Matt after he's crushed by Midland Circle in Defenders. It's as angsty as you might expect, but it's far from being one-note. In addition to Foggy's feelings running the full spectrum from anger to grief to wistful sadness, there are quietly brilliant sprinkles of characterization throughout, not limited to him and Matt but even stretching out beyond them to include other characters filtered through Foggy's perspective (Brett, Marci, and Karen, among others). It's clear a lot of thought and care went into this one, and it slots perfectly right into canon, scratching a very particular itch. Check it out and leave a comment for the author when you do!

Hear ye, hear ye, Mattfoggy folks! You may have seen a couple mattfoggy recs in the tags of late, and I've got another one to add to the glorious tradition of fic reccing!

I stop my banging and point directly at you with a gigantic frying pan and ask, "How do you feel about Matt reimagined as Latino and struggling to connect with his culture now that his dad is gone? How about a Foggy with Native American roots, and the two of them figuring themselves out before college? Now what about newcomer Karen Page and the things she causes them to discover both about their town and themselves?"

I trust I have your attention with the themes, but what about our readers who value a solid, unique plot? For you, my friends, I offer a mysterious mine and Fisk as a mining tycoon! I won't say more lest I spoil it, but the fic is reminiscent of one of those mystery novels you probably used to read back in middle school, with the group of friends working together to solve the case and save the day, all in a cozy 17k words. I haven't read another Daredevil fic like it, and you won't either unless you do yourself a favor and read this one.

i wanted to be thorough with my suggestions and i know there's a decently popular rec list from @/evilwickedme

I wanted to be able to offer suggestions that weren't too similar to theirs - but from that list, i love-- bullet, my roommate: matt murdock, and the two they wrote, less an apocalypse and human after all

Now down to brass tacks, my rec list:

Matt Murdock's Evil Internship for Struggling Superheros - i highly suggest you check out the entire collection from the author for this one, but this fic particularly is a fav of mine. it's excellent, i love the exploration of gwen and matt's relationship and it's so well written it feels like i'm reading canon material

In the Hall of the Mountian King - i love the POV of this and how we catch a glimpse of how fucking terrifying Matt can be, along with some of Matt and Otomo's relationship, also the amazing comic that was drawn to go with it

Empty Houses -- this is a really really cool take on an e-65 version of blindspot. i love the internal dialogue we get from sam along with his interactions with matt and gwen. also when he gets blinded? i. dont touch me. im sensitve.

Enjoy the Dance - this one is really interesting to me, i really like the portrayal of Otomo and Matt's dynamic, how we get a little more characterization for Otomo, and i enjoyed to open ending and Matt being delirious from blood loss lol

The Indictment of Sick Jan - another goody, love how mattfoggy is portrayed here. I love the teasing and the tension and this fic actually heavily contributed to me shipping the two of them because it really captures their dynamic so well

Thicker Than Blood

This one's E65, and I chose it out of the Pathetic series because 1.) I'm working on Pathetic right now, so it is my de facto favorite and 2.) this one is so horribly, emotionally fucked up- somehow the literal torture whump fic and the various angst fests leading up to it just don't compare. I'm so proud of myself.

The Night We Met

This one's just sad. It's not my cleanest, but imo, the angst hits.@ everyone who told me this one made you cry, I was kicking my feet and twirling my hair about it. Sorry, not sorry.

King of the Dirt

Hehehehehe. Hehehe HOOHOOHOO. Oh I do love a good E65 fic. I'll flood that tag with Mattfoggy if it kills me. I've read a lot where the relationship is y'know. Fucked up. And I like that, but not as much as I like the idea of them being mutually wretched. The kind of relationship where you glance at them and then look away like "yeesh. you're both fucking doomed. at least you've got each other... i guess." I'm having so much fun with this one.

If Destiny Has Something to Say

I was never super crazy about soulmate AUs, so I threw my own idea onto it. It's a very punk-ass take that I kind of adore of "fuck you, don't tell me who I love." I had a lot of fun playing with what I see as a kind of depressing concept, which is the thought that your destiny comes pre-written and no amount of perseverance or heart will save you.

What We Deserve

This could easily be at the top of the list, but it's not because it's finished. I see a lot of talk about how Matt doesn't deserve Foggy, and like. Yeah, if you're being scholarly about it, you're right, Foggy could do better. But his arc in the show is really important to me, because the resemblance to things that I've gone through is occasionally uncanny, and considering him an irredeemable bastard for that is... well, a little hurtful. So. Spite fic. <3

Marvel Humor Fics

As much as I love angst, I also love to laugh at some of the predicaments my poor blorbos get into! So here are some of my favourite humor fics from the Marvel fandom.

The real problem with no longer wearing body armor, Matt considers, is not actually the higher risk of injury. It’s that sometimes even when you don’t get hurt, you still end up mostly-naked in an alley that smells like day-old Chinese takeout.

Daredevil manages to lose his clothes while on patrol with the Defenders. They only make fun of him a little.

“Mr. Nelson?” the Judge calls out. He probably looks awful. His mother told him that he went deathly pale before he passed out the first time. Didn’t she take a video? He remembers there being a video. Is the room spinning or is that just him?

“I think ’m passing out,” Foggy mumbles thickly, hand flailing out for purchase but getting nothing on his fingers. The world was starting to go underwater. Someone yelled, and then there’s this gasping sound all around and then there’s darkness and nothing.

“Fuck you, Spidey,” the mugger replies, fumbling for the knife before scrambling back to his feet and brandishing the weapon at Peter.

Or, Peter is stabbed by a misleading knife, Tony plays a high stakes game of Operation, and May retains the one brain cell.

Clint had woken up one morning about three weeks ago (Well, Clint guessed about three. Definitely more than one. Maybe.) and stumbled down to the living room only to realize there was a guy on his couch. The guy just happened to be the Winter Soldier, who Clint knew was actually Steve’s old best friend, Bucky Barnes.

Barnes had been having a staring contest with Lucky (one eye shut, to make it fair, Clint had noticed) and Clint had decided to just leave him to it and make decisions after he’d had some coffee.

(In which Hawkeye befriends the Winter Soldier and discovers the Epic Love Story of Steve and Bucky nobody knows about)

"But-but what is a hero, really?" Flash croaked with a nervous smile, side-eyeing the weapon suspended beside him as it softly nudged the side of his skull. 

Peter slowly raised his hands in surrender, staring at Flash until he did the same, dropping the cans of pepper spray and the walkie talkies.

"We are so, so, so monumentally screwed."

Foggy finds himself reminiscing on the ten years he's known Matt Murdock - son of and assassin for the Kingpin. The things they've learned about each other and the violence they've wrought together. Something sharp, and twisted, and beautiful.

The Constellation of Touch

Months after Fisk is put away, nothing's right between the partners at Nelson and Murdock. But Christmas is here, and Matt is still expected at the Nelson house.

When what should have been a straight forward mission in Hell's Kitchen goes pear shaped due to lack of communication, teaching his teammates sign language seems like a logical step to Clint. Communication when their comms are down - great plan! And including the local vigilante, who's been working closely with them on this, is a real no-brainer.

MattFoggy Fic Rec: The Time We Have Left by thelonebamf

This is one of those fics that explores the potential of a particular canon moment/storyline and adds a whole bunch of depth in the process. The Time We Have Left takes inspiration from the fact that the Superior Iron Man miniseries was published while the Waid run of Daredevil was still ongoing, and brings the two together by asking the question: what if the very person Matt was going up against had the power to do away with the necessity of Foggy's cancer treatments? This added moral dilemma brings Matt's contribution to the original Superior Iron Man story into sharper focus while avoiding falling into the trap of doing a simple retread. anyway a majority of my spideypool bookmarks are from 2015 and I have no idea if most of them are any good which is an interesting problem to have but I still have a solid list for y'all

Say Anything...Except That - I was following this from the first chapter and I'm now mutuals with the author which was very fanboy moment for me (if you're seeing this, hi!). it has a lot of old school fanfiction.net quirks to it which might be a bit difficult to swallow if you've only been reading fic for a few years, but honestly I think this fic is really good and holds up to this day. it's been a while since I read it last but iirc Deadpool has to protect Spider-Man or Peter from assassination attempts and there's a lot of pining involved. also mattfoggy ended up having a nice arc because this was 2015 and Daredevil had just aired (this is technically incomplete there's one chapter left but if I had to reread it multiple times when there were only like ten chapters you can handle it)

under attack - more fics by people who are wayyy too cool to have followed me back and yet somehow did? anyway this is part of stackthedeck's team red slash series (ELITE ship fyi) but this one is spideypool focused and has some nice fluff. fighting as flirting idk what else to say it's golden

Dissonance - another longfic that took half a decade to write about deadpool protecting spider-man from harm. I actually don't know why this trope is so good peter really can defend himself but there you go

Perfect Enough - ohm y gOD this fic series is so good. this au hinges on such a tiny difference in peter's history but it makes ALL the difference. anyway in this world basically nobody has a functional secret identity anymore except for spider-man. meanwhile, wade wilson and peter parker start dating. so much plot, two separate longfics each around 140k, good luck this CONSUMED my life

speaking of consumed, rippling - this is part of a series called Into the Multiverse and is based on the Spiderverse film so it's Peter B. which I LOVE (spideybpool FUCKS). the series spun out of the authors' other series and it is, in fact, a pain to read the main entries in the series without reading the other serieses which means that I did spend two weeks doing little to nothing except reading deniigiq's work, but a. it was worth b. this one can be read as a standalone! wade jumps in front of a bullet for peter b and he angsts about it I love it

finally ahem speaking of Peter B, did you know I've been writing spideypool fic since 2015 and I wrote one specifically for spiderverse? I'm a mess (but I'm the mess that you wanted) is really a mix of spiderverse and comic canon like, five years into the future, and deals mostly with like, depression and suicidal ideation on Peter's behalf, but hey there's also a plot AND a happy polyam ending which, what else could you want really

This is my most popular fic by... a very large margin, lol - and it's also a result of me being incredibly self-indulgent in my writing. So it's very near and dear to my heart. :3 (Psst fandom we always need more Foggy/Daredevil, just saying)

2. The Lesser of Two Evils - Daredevil, MattFoggy

I'm just super proud of the plot twist in this one. It also took me an entire year to write, but it paid off! And it gave me a chance to play with demon!Foggy, which was interesting since I'm usually a demon!Matt girl.

3. Peter B. Parker's Interdimensional Field Trip - Into the Spider-Verse, Gen

This fic was the culmination of like, an entire private discord server's worth of notes. I couldn't make it into every universe in this AU (and I still haven't written about the Noirverse, although I do have many ideas) but it was a lot of fun hopping around and showing off all the different Matts.

4. Fins and Fangs - Daredevil, MattFoggy

So, this one is not finished yet, but I'm still really proud of it. I had a ton of fun with the worldbuilding for mermaid society, and merMatt is such a goof.

5. Matt Murdock, Otterney at Law - Daredevil, Gen

Probably one of, if not the crackiest fic I've ever written: the one where Matt is literally an otter, and Fisk is the only one who knows it. It was an absolute joy to write and I still laugh every time I reread it.
